Easypress Technologies announced on Wednesday that the company's Atomik Dynamic Publisher (ADP) has been selected by Barclays as an online document-editing, proofing and approval system.

Platformed on open-source Alfresco CMS Enterprise, Easypress ADP is an online collaborative document and workflow management system which is based around QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign Server CS3.

Barclays and its design agency Further Creative will be utilising the collaborative technology for editing, proofing and approval of the bank's annual reporting, creating efficiencies in a process that was becoming increasingly complex and unwieldy due to larger volumes of paper proofs.

'Streamlining'

ADP streamlines such processes by allowing remote editors to view, edit and print QuarkXPress and InDesign documents. Because the basic unit of data in ADP is a document, any type of document from .docs to spreadsheetsm PDFs and image files can be stored.

Commenting on the adoption of ADP, Barclays' Associate Director - Investor Relations Bojana Flint said the bank was “keen to bring improvements to the process.”

“ADP totally transformed the way we managed the production of our Corporate reporting suite, streamlining elements of the process with it’s associated benefits, without compromising accuracy.”

'High Quality Niche Product'

The use of Alfresco for the product is testament to the interoperability of the open-source platform, and at Open Plus we're always on the look-out for new and interesting ways in which companies innovate around an open-source product.

According to Andrew Skyes, CEO of Open Plus Ltd, “this is a great example of how Alfresco offers innovative businesses with a fantastic platform on which to build high quality niche products.”

Alfresco is an exciting company and product we've been keeping a close eye on here at Open Plus. Last month Alfresco ECM was released with, for the first time, the Activiti Business Process Management (BPM) workflow engine. This feature should emporwer Alfresco users further to drive more efficient document-centric process management.

Easypress in an Alfresco Gold Solution Partner. Back in 2007 when Alfresco and Easypress announced their OEM agreement for ADP, John Powell, CEO of Alfresco described the product as 'our leading collaborative publishing solution."

This is a great, innovative example of the kind of complementary software solution that the Alfresco's Partner Program is there to encourage.
