Document Foundation Releases Libre Office 3.3.2
The Document Foundation's release yesterday of version 3.3.2 of their open-source office suite is the second in the current series of bug fixes aimed at improving its overall stability

Specific problems addressed in the update include a number of crashing bugs which now have fixes. Measures to improve the overall efficiency have also been taken, including code cleaning to remove a number of German comments and obsolete functions.
The Document Foundation advises existing Open Office users to uninstall the suite before updating to version 3.3.2 as the same file type associations are registered.
Remaining Problems
However, issues remain with version 3.3.2, according to open-source commentator The H, including with third-party extensions with their own help and an issue on Windows where Python-based extensions cannot be registered.
These will be addressed in a bugfix version release in the near future, ahead of the eventual release of version 3.4 in mid-May.
The release comes in the wake of an unexpectedly successful fund-raising round during which around 100,000 euro were raised. The figure is double that which was aimed for and the additional funds will be used to cover operating expenses.
Libre Office is an open-source, free to download personal office suite for Windows, Macintosh and Linux whose provision includes word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation and design functions.
The Document Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation, has been running the community-driven Libre Office project since in September 2010 a number of team members left the rival OpenOffice project.
